Synopsis

The Prince and the Pauper gets a contemporary Korean twist in The Twins, a madcap comedy from acclaimed director Park Heung Sik. Actor Jung Jun Ho (Marrying the Mafia and The Legend of Evil Lake) takes on challenging dual roles, playing two brothers who may look identical, but are like night and day when it comes to their individual personalities! The arrogant Hyon Su is clearly the more successful of the two; he’s a top student who’s on the verge of graduating with honors and going on to study law at Seoul University. His twin Myon Su, however, isn’t quite a model student. In fact, he’s not even in school, having quit sometime during middle school. Rather than crack open a book, this rough-around-the-edges dropout spends his days cracking heads working as a bouncer at a nearby brothel. But when he’s not protecting hookers and local vendors from gangster interference, Myon Su helps out at his mother’s (Park Jeong Soo) little restaurant near the train station.

But beneath Myon Su’s obviously tough exterior lies the heart of a loyal brother, willing to trade spots with his sibling at a moment’s notice whenever the selfish Hyon Su gets in over his head, even going so far as to serve jail time at one point! The mistaken identity quotient gets jacked up even further when a bitter girlfriend (Yoon So I) jumps into the mix, causing more hilarity to ensue! Based on the success of his previous short films, director Park Heung Sik has earned plenty of invites to film festivals around the globe, and with The Twins being his first major motion picture, you don’t want to miss out on the feature-length debut of this director-on-the-rise! Synopsis

A battered woman finds her soul mate in a most unusual manner in this drama from Korean filmmaker Kim Ki-Duk. Synopsis

Seoh Jung (The Isle) stars as Kim Moon-hee, an older woman who has just been released from police custody for deflowering an underage young man, Hyun (newcomer Shim Ji-ho). (In South Korea, the age of sexual consent is 20, and Hyun is only 19.) Upon her release, Moon-hee is surprised when Hyun shows up and spirits her away from eager reporters. Dodging a prying reporter and staying out of sight, Moon-hee and Hyun go to a motel, where they continue their torrid affair. Moon-hee thinks Hyun is only interested in sex, so she breaks up with him, and goes to stay with her friend, Jean (Oh Yun-hong). She’s heartbroken that Hyun didn’t try to get her to stay, but she soon learns that he has followed her. The couple stays with Jean, who seems to share Moon-hee’s attraction to the handsome young man. Moon-hee fulfills her community service (part of her sentence) by caring for senior citizens in a rest home. The two struggle through their challenging relationship, dealing with Hyun’s immaturity and Moon-hee’s insecurity. វាលពិឃាត - The Killing Fields

Killing Fields is on par with, if it doesn't exceed, the power of any war movie ever made. I liken it to Hotel Rwanda, Cry Freedom, and The Quiet American, all films seen through the eyes of simple men in extra-ordinary circumstances. The magnitude of the brutality of the Khmer Rouge is perfectly and savagely captured as innocent men, women, and children are summarily executed absent the slightest provocation. It is a film that makes you say, I didn't realize that happened ala Hotel Rwanda. Every child over ten should be shown this film to truly understand that evil exists and the world is not all McDonalds and fun. There are human beings just like us living under an indescribable fear that death is coming and there is nothing they can do about it. Sam Waterson is wonderful as the protagonist and of course Haing S. Ngor is stunning as Dith Pran. See this movie and it will change the way you view the world.

Synopsis

Takeko (Isabella Leong) keeps a famed design of the spider lily flower on the wall of her tattoo parlor. Webcam girl Jade (Rainie Yang) visits Takeko’s tattoo parlor, looking for sexy decoration to excite her clients. Entranced by the tattoo of the spider lily on the wall, Jade gives Takeko her business card and invites her to visit her on her website where she professes her love for the tattoo artist.
